MODELING OPEN LOADS

Using prototype and model photographs, this clinic will present a variety of possible open loads from industries such as steel, construction equipment, lumber, power generation and many others. Discussion will include appropriate loading and blocking techniques.


USING ProTrak for Operations
 by Howard R. Garner

This will be a free ranging discussion of why ProTrak meets my requirements for prototype operations. It will cover such things as customer orders, filling those orders, routing of empties, STCC codes, scheduling, switch lists and more. It will all be tied into how it effects operations. Where this differs from other options will be pointed out.


SORT-OF-QUICK FREIGHT CAR WEATHERING

Some techniques for and comments on weathering freight cars to get rid of that out-of-the-box-shiny-look. If you are interested in a realistic look to what moves on your tracks, weathering is an essential element. How much is enough, how much time is it going to cost and how “real” do I want the look to be will be covered as well as some comments on tools, paints, patience and practice.

MODELING WITH BRASS

We will discuss and demonstrate techniques used to build models using brass. Using common tools a modeler can create excellent, durable models that he can be proud to own. We will also cover a few low cost tools that make the job eaiser as well as some pitfalls to brass modeling. Joe will bring some examples and discuss hybrid models.
