A locomotive consist used by Central Kansas Railway sits on their branchline at Salina, Ks at the old Santa Fe freight house. This branchline was once a Santa Fe branch that was sold off to CKR. The locomotives are: GWR 3042 GP35 (ex-Rio Grande), SP 6619 GP35, and CKR 2243 GP7. These photos are from May 1998 by Eric Burris.

At the Union Pacific yard at Salina sits a variety of locomotives from many railroads. Since the former SP trains is the majority of the traffic here, some SP power is here as well as CNW and the Conrail units that are being leased by UP. There was some UP power further down the tracks. Salina has a neat UP depot and I'm looking at shooting more trains here. When I was at Salina in May 1998, no trains went by. Maybe I'll catch the happy hour next time. Photos by Eric Burris.
