GENERAL: These coaches were built by Budd Railcar and were Amtrak's first new cars purchased back in the mid-1970's. The initial order gave Amtrak 492 new short-distance coaches and cafe cars. |

TERRITORY: These cars can be seen all over the Northeast, including the Northeast Corridor as well as the Midwest. They have also been spotted on some West-Coast trains such as trains on the Pacific Surfliner Route. |

NOTES: Several of these cars have been modified from thier original configuraion over the years. A select group has been rebuilt under the Capstone 2001 Program with more comfortable seats, updated bathrooms as well as decor updates and AC Outlets at each seat. Cars will have some or all of the aformentioned features depending on their maintenance cycles and funds availability. |
