Ten Ford 29-Bs were used by the HSR in the 1940s and 1950s. The buses arrived in Hamilton in 2 batches. 88-92 were built in 1943. 130-134 were originally built for the TTC as #775-779 in 1941, and were sold to the HSR in 1946. All 29-Bs were retired before the sale of the HSR to the City of Hamilton in 1959.

On the afternoon of January 29, 1947, HSR #131 (ex TTC #776) was heading eastbound on Maple Ave (now Maplewood Ave) when it collided with a southbound TH&B freight train at the railway crossing just west of Gage Ave. The impact forced the bus off the road where it crashed into a concrete hydro pole. The driver and three passengers were taken to hospital. Photos courtesy of the January 30 1947 Hamilton Spectator, pg 12
