The HSR's third model of articulated bus (after the GM TA60-102N and the NFI DE60LFR) is the NFI XN60 (Xcelsior model, Natural gas powered, 60 ft long). On May 13, 2013 Akron (Ohio) Metro Regional Transit Authority #6004 was detoured to Hamilton by New Flyer for a demonstration, as it was being delivered to Akron.
The HSR liked what it saw and eighteen buses were delivered to Hamilton starting on May 5, 2015. The buses did not enter service until September 3, 2015 because the CNG filling station at the Mountain Garage was being rebuilt, and so they were stored over the summer at the Mountain Garage. The second batch of 11 buses arrived between December 2018 and February 2019, and the third batch arriving between July and September 2023.
