Memo on H&D stationery. Best guess at transcription is "To Whoever it may concern, Hamilton 13 July 1887. I have to say that William Bishop worked for me and this railway in my office at Hamilton and I think him a very promising young man. For the four months he was with me he did his work very well he is sober and well behaved as far as I know and I can say that I liked him very much but he got what he thought a better place. John Weatherton Manager & Lessee
A badge for the Ryerson Methodist Church Sunday School picnic at the Dundas Driving Park, June 25 1920. The transit related portion is at the bottom: Ryerson Methodist (later Ryerson United Church, now Faith United Church) chartered a radial car to leave from Springer Ave & Maple Ave (now Maplewood) on the HG&B and go to Dundas on the H&D, and then return that evening. This badge (#145) would allow a person to board that car.
Letter on HRER stationery. Best guess at transcription is "Hamilton, Ont Oct 30 1893. JJ Marsharn & c. Dear Sir. Your letter to hand. I have not got anything definite from the Zalapoosa? Co but expect a letter every day. Mr Howe of the Coy [Company] has a brother in law here who says they are very sanguine about it. If you can make a fair start with foundations switch to this fall I think I can promise you a pretty good subscription myself as we want to divide up our business and your starting would put me in shape to subscribe. I will write again to the Zalapoosa people tomorrow if I do not hear from them. Let me know the time you will be here as I expect to be away off & on now for a while. Yours truly, John Patterson"
A letterhead for the Wentworth Incline Railway. Based on the phone number (GArfield [42]-341) we can date this to between 1919 (When the Garfield telephone exchange opened) and 1928 (When Hamilton switched to using 6 digit phone numbers).
A CCL envelope (Front, back, interior)
A CCL receipt (Front, and back) for a fall colours bus tour to Beaverton, dated October 15 1973
