EAST END: THE CUMBERLAND SUB-DIVISION HO SCALE MODEL RAILROADING BY JEFF HANKE LAST UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018 NOTICE: I have founded a Yahoogroup called Chessie_System_East_End to provide more information on the
layout and to have a better forum to address
questions and update everyone on my
progress. Please feel free to join.
![]() ![]() Above: The Martinsburg passenger station used to have a baggage shed attached. It was torn down in the 80s or 90s. The real shed had four large doors, but I didn't have room for them all, so my model has two doors. The shed was offwhite, not the usual B&O yellowish tan color. ![]() ![]() Above: The B&O had an old storage shed right near the Fruit Exchange in Martinsburg. It was in a sad state of repair when this prototype photo was taken in 1989. The foundation is still there today, but the building itself is gone. This is another model that sits near the edge of the layout, so it is only half as thick as the prototype. ![]() ![]() Above: The B&O Freight Station at Martinsburg sits right next to A&E Alignment (below). I kitbashed it from two Life-Like kits. It is also a partial structure, since it sits near the layouts edge. It was closed in the Chessie Era, note the boarded up windows. Today the building has been completely renovated, and the plywood entrance and loading dock have been removed, but it looks better than it did in the Chessie Era. ![]() ![]() Above: The A&E Alignment Shop at Martinsburg is finished. It is just an inch and a half thick, because of the edge of the layout location. The shop is closed and boarded up today. I modeled it as it would look in 1982. The Ford Escort is the next customer for the shop, ready to drive in for service. Any questions or
