CHESSIE SYSTEM
  EAST END: THE CUMBERLAND SUB-DIVISION
HO SCALE MODEL RAILROADING BY JEFF HANKE
LAST UPDATED: FEBRUARY 21, 2021

NOTICE:
Yahoogroups have been ended by Yahoo.
I will continue to update this site to status the construction of my layout.

Finally, Martinsburg is starting to look like Martinsburg.  I went to Staples and had them print out the photos I found on line.  I'm happy with the way they came out and the area is finally starting to look industrial and not rural.

After 7 years...yes, 7 years, I've finally finished my three "Dinkies".  C&O 18742 was a unique locomotive on the Chessie roster.  It was the oldest locomotive during the Chessie Era, having been built in 1917!  It is also battery powered and the only locomotive with a five digit road number.  Read more about it on the loco page.  This is also the only time you'll see a CSX logo on my website.  I had to build three locomotives for the Motive Power certificate toward Master Model Railroader, so figured I might as well make them all the same.  It was pretty easy to choose to do one from each era.

Above:  A significant milestone was achieved Dec 28th.  This is the first train running on Hancock.  Note the headlight is on!  Two of the three sections are permanently mounted now.  Ballasting and scenery are starting on the last section now.  The second photo is Chessie C&O 5760 pushing a cut of sand cars over the scales.  The scales concrete pad can be seen under the third car from the locomotive, near the light pole.  Finally, I added LEDs to the lower side of Hancock, to shine on Martinsburg.  It makes all the difference in the world, as there are no shadows any more.
